You can also choose to name the target folder automatically using the date, artist name, or album name. Next select File Naming method for the extracted files using the Album, Artist, Track, and Title of each song. Be sure to name them such that the files will not share a same name and overwrite each other. You can alternatively choose the "Advanced" option in which the extracted files will be named Track 01, Track 02, etc. Next choose the Bitrate and Speed of the extraction. Be sure to place a check mark on CD+G option for any karaoke CD+G discs. Press OK.
8.3.5 The encoding/extracting will begin showing the progress on each song. It is important that the disc is clean and without scratches which will hinder the extraction process. For problems in extracting certain discs or certain tracks, please contact techsupport@cavsusa.com.
Note that at the bottom of the screen, the progress of the total extraction process is shown.
8.3.6 When the extraction is complete, go to the target folder (in our example, C:\JB199III\CDG001) in the Folder Menu window. The extracted files will appear in the File Browser window.

8.5 Transferring song files into a hard drive
8.5.1 MP3 + CDG or MP3 + MCG files
Loading songs that consist of MP3 + CDG files or MP3 + MCG files into the JB-199 III Premier is easy and can be done using the Copy & Paste commands of Windows. It does not require any conversion, and needs only a good design of directories (folders) for easy access and management.
First step to consider in the transfer is how to load the title and artist information for each song. Here we consider 4 different methods.
Note that song files are different from the tracks of CD+G discs which can be searched online in the Internet for the title and artist information under the dsic name.
8.5.1.1 Title and artist information is stored in a text file (such as list.txt or juke.txt)Open the folder in which the song files are stored. The folder can be in an internal hard drive or an external memory storage device (such as an external USB hard drive or USB flash drive). Here in the example, it is D:\Karaoke. Inside the folder, there are MP3 + MCG song files and the Juke.txt song list file. Note that the MP3 + CDG files will work in the exact same way.
Double click on the Juke.txt to open the song list in the Notepad program. We can see the format of the file which is to divide the filename, title, and artist by “|” signs. “|” is called Pipe sign which is typed by Shift-\.
Next, copy the folder D:\Karaoke (which contains the MP3 + MCG files and Juke.txt file) into a folder of your choice in the JB-199 III Premier. You can do this by right click on the D:\Karaoke folder and select Copy.
Then go to the folder (for example, C:\JB199III) in the JB-199 III Premier unit and right click. Select Paste and the copying process will begin.
When the copying is complete, rename the copied folder according to your folder design. For example, we rename it from Karaoke to MCG01.
Next, start the JB-199 III Premier program. Open the folder C:\JB199III\MCG01 in the Folder Menu window.
The song files (MP3 + MCG) will load into the File Browser window. The title and artist information in the Juke.txt list will also load automatically into the File Browser window.
If the title and artist information are not loaded automatically, press Load Text button at the bottom and a pop-up window will appear.
Select the file Juke.txt and press Open. Another pop-up window will appear confirming that how many songs are to be updated with title and artist information. Confirm the number of the songs to be updated and press Yes.
The title and artist information in the Juke.txt list will load into the File Browser window.
8.5.1.2 Title and artist information is stored in the song file names (for example, PWH2012-01-I Love This Bar-Toby Keith.mp3 and PWH2012-01-I Love This Bar-Toby Keith.cdg)
Open the folder in which the files are stored. The folder can be from an internal hard drive or an external memory storage device (such as an external USB hard drive or USB flash drive). Here in the example, it is D:\Karaoke. Inside this folder, there are MP3 + CDG song files with names according to the album, track, title, and artist. These files are most commonly found when downloaded from websites. Note that MP3 + MCG files will work in the exact same way.
Copy the folder D:\Karaoke into a folder of your choice in the JB-199 III Premier. You can do this by right click on the D:\Karaoke folder and select Copy.
Next go to the folder (for example, C:\JB199III) in the JB-199 III Premier unit. Select Paste and the copying process will begin.
When the copying is complete, rename the copied folder according to your folder design. For example, we rename it from Karaoke to MP3G01.
Next, start the JB-199 III Premier program. Open the folder C:\Karaoke\MP3G01 in the Folder Menu window. The song files (MP3+CDG) will be loaded into the File Browser window.
Select the songs for which the Filenaming will be used to obtain the title and artist information. Note that the songs should not be selected together when the filenames are made with different order of album, track, title, and artist information. For example, a song with a filename in the order of album-track-title-artist should be separated from a song with a filename in the order of artist-album-track-title. In our example below, all songs have the filenames with same order of album-track-title-artist. Therefore we select all the songs by clicking on the check mark at the bottom. Press the Filenaming button at the bottom, and a pop-up window will appear.
In the pop-up window of File Naming, select the order of album, track, title, and artist. Press OK.
The title and artist information (along with album and track) in the filenames will load into the File Browser window.
8.5.1.3 Title and artist information is stored in the ID Tags of the song files (for example ID3 Tags of MP3 files)
Open the folder in which the files are stored. The folder can be from an internal hard drive or an external memory storage device (such as an external USB hard drive or USB flash drive). Here in the example, it is D:\Karaoke. Inside this folder, there are MP3 + CDG song files with ID Tags that contains title and artist information. Note that MP3 + MCG files will work in the exact same way.
Copy the folder D:\Karaoke into a folder of your design in the JB-199 III Premier. You can do this by right click on the G:\Karaoke folder and select Copy.

The song files (MP3 + CDG) will load into the File Browser window.
Also the title and artist information will load in automatically from the ID tags.
If the title and artist information does not load in, press the Load Tag button at the bottom.
8.5.1.4 Title and artist information is not available with the song files
Open the folder in which the files are stored. The folder can be from an internal hard drive or an external memory storage device (such as an external USB hard drive or USB flash drive). Here in the example, it is D:\Karaoke. Inside this folder, there are MP3 + CDG song files without the title and artist information. Note that MP3 + MCG files will work in the exact same way.

AVI, WMV, and MP4 are motion picture files containing both the audio and video contents. They are popular formats for the karaoke songs of MTV, Video CD (VCD), DVD, and even the old Laser discs. Converting the VCD, DVD, or Laser discs to AVI, WMV, or MP4 files is also easy. The instructions and free shareware for the converting can be found in many websites under a search of “VCD to AVI”, “DVD to MP4”, "Laser disc to MP4", etc.
We start with an external hard drive containing AVI, WMV, and MP4 files.

A major advantage of the JB-199 III Premier is in utilizing the playlists to control the songs. For example, in the playlists, songs can be grouped, separated, edited, deleted, searched, preset, etc. These changes in the playlists can be done quickly and easily, all without affecting the actual song files stored in the hard drives of the JB-199 III Premier unit.
The previous chapter shows how to load songs of various formats and origins into the hard drive of the JB-199 III Premier unit. The song files were store into folders that were named for easy identification. A generous use of folders is in fact recommended under the JB-199 III Premier program. The program is capable of handling thousands of folders tracking many song files automatically. One folder per disc is a good guideline as all songs from all folders can be put together into a single Playlist no matter how many different folders the song files are stored in.
This section describes how to make the playlists. First, we make one playlist for each folder. Then we show how to combine them all for a single playlist which we call "Master Library". In the example below, we begin from the folders with song files, just like the ones made in the previous chapters, only simplified in their variety.
Start the JB-199 III Premier program. In the Folder Menu window, select the folder CDG. The songs will appear on the File Browser window. Note that the title and artist information is loaded from the Filenames.
Select a Playlist (1 - 10) into which we will store the song list of CDG. In this example, we select the Playlist 1. Next, click on the check mark at the bottom of the File Browser to select all songs in CDG. Press the Playlist button at the bottom to send the song list of CDG to the Playlist 1. Instead of pressing the Playlist button, you can also drag & drop or right click on the songs followed by selecting Playlist in the menu to send the song list of CDG to the Playlist 1.
Next press the Save as button in the List Browser window. A popup window "Save As" will appear.
Save the playlist as CDG.txt as shown and press Save button.
For the next folder MCG, press the New button in the List Browser to clear the content in the Playlist 1. Select the C:\JB199III\MCG folder in the Folder Menu. The songs in the MCG folder will appear on the File Browser window. In the example, the title and artist information is loaded from a text file Juke.txt.
Again click on the Check mark at the bottom of the File Browser to select all songs in MCG. Press the Playlist button at the bottom to send the song list of MCG to the Playlist 1.
Next press the Save as button in the List Browser window. A popup window "Save As" will appear.
Save the playlist as MCG.txt as shown and press Save button.
For each folder, we repeat the steps above to create and save the playlist using the matching name (CDG, MCG, SCDG, ZIP, DVD-USB, JB-199, AVI WMV MP4).
We next show how to combine the Playlists to make one Master Library containing all songs.
Press New button in the List Browser to clear the content in Playlist 1. Press the Load button. Select CDG and press Open button. The playlist CDG will appear in the List Browser.

There are 21 Playlists (slots) in the JB-199 III Premier program into which any playlists can be loaded and used simultaneously.
The first 10 Playlists (1 - 10) are in the List Browser
The second 10 Playlists (11 - 20) are in the File Browser
The last Playlist, also called My Server, is in the List Browser. My Server is different from the others that when the E-Songbook Server is enabled, thus the JB-199 III Premier unit is communicating with the external devices such as E-Songbooks, iPhone, iPad, Androids, and Windows tablets, only the playlist loaded into My Server is shared and transmitted to the external devices. Usually My Server is loaded with the Master Library.
In a Playlist, you can edit the playlist as follows.
To remove a song, right click on the song and select Delete. In the example, we delete on a song from a playlist in Playlist 1.
To add a song, you must first copy the song from another playlist which we call the source playlist. Right click on the song in the source playlist and select Copy. In the example, we copy a song from a playlist in My Server.
Next right click in the target Playlist and select Paste. The song will copy over from the source playlist to the target playlist, automatically assigned with the last Index number + 1 of the target playlist. In the example, we paste the song into the playlist in Playlist 1.
Note that to paste the song, you must right click in an empty area that is outside of the target playlist but within the target Playlist 1 slot. This can be difficult when the target playlist is long. In that case we recommend using the empty area to the right side of the playlist in the target Playlist.
After deleting or adding songs, you can re-index the song list by right clicking on any song in the playlist followed by selecting Index.

For the video, an external USB camera connected as shown in Section 6.4 can be used for an optimum angle. The audio and video recordings will then be combined in a MP4 video file format.
When multiple cameras are installed in the JB-199 III Premier unit, go to the Tools > Setting in the Player to make your selection.
Press the Record button at the bottom (The button will change to Stop Record). Once on Record, all songs played thereafter will be recorded and saved as an individual file for each song. That is, a separate recorded file is created each time a song is played.
The recorded files can be played as any other song files by moving them to a Playlist. Simply drag & drop the recorded file to a Playlist. Be sure to turn off the recording when done by pressing the Stop Record button, as many will mistakenly record the recorded files which can cause unexpected results in the program.
To write the recorded files onto a blank disc, use the Write feature described above in Section 9.1.9. You can choose the files you like from My Record or Playlist and send to the Write window for making discs.
This section explains how to use the JB-199 III Premier unit in conjunction with E-Songbooks or any wireless device such as
iPhone - Version 4 or higher
iPad - Version 2 or higher
Android phones - Version 2.2 or higher
Android tablets - Version 2.2 or higher
Windows tablet - Windows 7 or higher
The wireless device must first be installed with CAVS Reservation System (RS) II Apps, also called CAVS RS II Client programs. There are two versions of the CAVS RS II Client programs. The free version is restricted to displaying the playlist and reserving songs. The full version on the other hand allows to play, pause, stop, next, and cancel the songs as well. The free versions can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or CAVS Website www.cavsusa.com. For the full version, please contact techsupport@cavsusa.com for your purchase.
The E-Songbook is always installed with the full version. We will henceforth refer to the E-Songbook and any wireless device collectively as the E-Songbook.
To establish communication, we use a Wi-Fi Router (802.11 b/g/n) between the JB-199 III Premier unit and the E-Songbook. The JB-199 III Premier unit will connect to the Router by a LAN cable as shown in Section 6.5. The E-Songbook will connect to the same Router wirelessly using its built-in Wi-Fi adapter inside the E-Songbook. Then using the CAVS RS II App running in the E-Songbook and CAVS RS II Server program running in the JB-199 III Premier unit, the two devices will begin to communicate. Up to 256 E-Songbooks can be connected simultaneously to a single JB-199 III Premier unit.
To start, in the JB-199 III Premier unit, go to the Tools > Setting in the Player section. Place a check mark at Start E-Songbook Server.
Press OK and the CAVS RS II Server program will begin in the JB-199 III Premier unit. Once checked in the Setting, the CAVS RS II Server program will open automatically whenever the JB-199 III Premier unit starts.
9.11.1 Preparing JB-199 III Premier for E-Songbook
Only one playlist is shared between the JB-199 III Premier and the E-Songbook. This playlist, usually the master playlist, must be loaded into My Server located in the Folder Menu, as shown below.
Note that the E-Songbook can only see this playlist in My Server and will be able to reserve the songs only from this playlist. The JB-199 III Premier unit however can have multiple playlists and can reserve from any playlists. In order to bridge the difference, all songs reserved in the Queue will be shown as they are in the Queue of the JB-199 III Premier unit. In the E-Songbook however only the songs reserved from My Server will be shown in the Queue of the E-Songbook and the others will be shown as "Private Collection" without any title or artist information.
9.11.2 Connecting JB-199 III Premier to Router
Connect the JB-199 III Premier unit to to a Wi-Fi Router (hereinafter called Router) as shown in Section 6.5.
Be sure to connect the LAN cable from the JB-199 III Premier unit to the Router using a standard LAN port, not an Internet WAN port of the Router
Having connected the JB-199 III Premier unit to the Router, click on the CAVS RS II Server program icon in the taskbar of the JB-199 III Premier. A popup window will open and show the the IP address assigned by the Router at the top of the window, next to the CAVS RS II Server name. The IP address, if the JB-199 III Premier unit is connected to the Router correctly, will be 192.168.XXX.XXX, where XXX.XXX are the last two sets of numbers that will change depending on your router.
9.11.3 Connecting E-Songbook to Router
The E-Songbook comes with a built-in Wi-Fi adapter. Following the instruction in the user manual of the E-Songbook (which will vary between different E-Songbook devices), select the Router in the Wireless Settings.
For Android devices, go to Settings in the App page, select Wireless & Networks, and select Wi-Fi settings. Under the Wi-Fi networks, select the Router and press Connect.
For iPhone or iPad devices, go to Settings in the home page, select Wi-Fi, and turn it on. Select the Router under the Choose a Network.
For Windows tablets, click on the Internet Access in the Taskbar, select the Router, and Press Connect.
Return to the home page of the E-Songbook and start the CAVS RS II App by pressing the program icon. Go to Settings within the CAVS RS II App. When asked for PINCODE, tap on the input field to bring up the touch keyboard and input "0000" (four zeros). This PINCODE is the factory default value and it may be changed.
Next, select the Set Server IP. The field to input the IP address will appear. Tap within the field to bring up the on-screen keyboard. Type in the IP address 192.168.XXX.XXX obtained from the Section 9.11.2 above. Press OK and return to the main page of the CAVS RS II App.
At the main page, there will be a red indicator (burst) on the top left corner of the E-Songbook (this position of the red burst may change depending on the E-Songbook device), showing that the E-Songbook is not connected to the JB-199 III Premier unit. Soon the red indicator will change to blue, showing that the connection to the Laptop / PC has been made and the playlist (song list) within the JB-199 III Premier unit (My Server) is downloading into the E-Songbook. The blue indicator will then turn to green, showing that the download is complete and the E-Songbook is ready for use.
To detail instruction on how to use the CAVS RS II Apps, go to Section 4.6 above.
9.12 Using 3D Customer Interface
This section describes how to start and operate the 3D Customer Interface in PlayCDG KJ Deluxe 64 LT program. The 3D Customer Interface is a simple and intuitive screen that can be operated directly by customers or hosts. For the optimum result, we recommend using the 3D Customer Interface together with a touch screen monitor. For setting a touch screen monitor, go to Section 2 above.
To start, go to Tools > Setting in the Player section. The following window will appear.
Check the Enable 3D Customer Interface. There are several options that you can also select under the 3D Customer Interface:
Start with Full Screen - Start the 3D Customer Interface in full screen mode. This option is recommended when all settings are made and you are ready to start for the karaoke show.
Enable Display Lyrics - Display the lyrics on the 3D Customer Interface. This option is only recommended if you wish to see the lyrics on the same display as the 3D Customer Interface.
Enable Play, Pause, Stop, Next - Enable the Play, Pause, Stop, Next buttons in Queue window. This option allows the user to start / pause / stop playing a selected song from the 3D Customer Interface. This would be convenient if a host is managing the 3D Customer Interface. The opposite would be to disable the Play, Pause, Stop, Next buttons and allow the customers only the privilege to reserve the songs. A manager with full control device, for example, holding an E-Songbook, can then start / stop the reserved songs.
Enable Cancel button (Queue) - Enable to cancel or shuffle the reserved songs in Queue. This option allows the user to cancel the reserved songs in Queue in anticipation of mistakes or change of mind. It also allows the user to shuffle the order of reserved songs.
Enable Touch Screen Keyboard - Enable the touch screen keyboard to type in the search words, names, etc. This option is a must when using the song search function.
(OSK) - Enable the touch screen keyboard with International fonts. This option is recommended if the song search function must be conducted in multi languages.
Lock Password - Enable password to change the Lock / Unlock status of the 3D Customer interface. This option should be enabled when you wish to limit the previlege to lock or unlock, thus to go beyond the 3D Customer Interface to the JB-199 III Premier operating system.
Secondary 3D Customer Interface - Also called 3D Manager Interface, this option is used when a requested song needs prior approval before entering the Queue, such as when a payment is required. The Secondary 3D Customer Interface would then be displayed on a separate monitor near a manager for receiving payment and approving the reservation. For more detail, please contact techsupport@cavsusa.net.
Exchange Index with - Exchange the Index variable on the 3D Customer Interface with Filename, Track, Genre, Year, or Memo. Sometimes other variable may be of more importance to the customers for selecting songs. For example, when the songs are from an old JB-199, the filenames contain the old song numbers can be more important to the customers and can be exchanged with Index..
Click OK and the 3D Customer interface will immediately begin.
The 3D Customer Interface will appear as follows.
There are three parts to the design of this interface: ceiling, wall, and floor. All three parts can be customized separately to your liking. For example, we can make three graphic files, ceiling.jpg, wall.jgp, and floor.jpg, each in 512 pixel x 512 pixel size. Save the three graphic files in a folder Libraries\My Documents\JB199III\Utility\media. Next edit a file called "room.x" which is in the same folder with text editor such as Notepad. Replace the names "cellceiling.jpg", "cavswall.jpg", and "cellfloor.jpg" respectively with ceiling.jpg, wall.jpg, and floor.jpg in the file.. Restart the JB-199 III Premier program. Below is an example using some popular images.
The 3D Customer Interface can be locked into the display screen in order to prevent users from going beyond. Right click on the Home button at the top. You can then choose to lock or unlock the 3D Customer Interface. If the Lock Password option is enabled with a password in the Tools > Setting, you will need to input the password to change the status, thus allowing only those with password to change the status.

Paper songbooks have effectively been replaced by electronic tablets that can automatically update the song list, instantly search the songs, and wirelessly reserve, play, pause, stop, and cancel the songs. The electronic tablets, also called E-Songbooks have now become an integral part of the karaoke. This section describes how to make the paper songbooks, i.e. how to print the playlists of the JB-199 III Premier in case of your need.
First we copy out all playlists from the JB-199 III Premier unit onto a USB flash drive. We assume that you have the Microsoft Excel program installed in your laptop/PC and that is where you will print the playlists, sorted by Title and Artist.
In the JB-199 III Premier unit, go to This PC > Documents > JB199III > Playlist. There you will find the playlists in the text file format. Copy the files onto the USB flash drive.
Connect the USB flash drive to your laptop/PC. Start the MS Excel program. Inside the Excel program, click on File and Open and navigate to the USB flash drive with the playlists. Select All Files for the file type.
Select a Playlist from the folder. In this example, we select the Master Library. Press Open.
A pop-up window of Text Wizard Import - Step 1 of 3 will appear. Check Delimited and press Next.
Check Others and input “|” sign in the input field. “|” is the Pipe sign inputted by typing Shift-\. Press Next.
In order to maintain the zeros in front of the Song Index, click Text as shown for the first column and press Finish.
The Playlist will appear with separate columns for Index, Title, Artist, Filename, etc. Adjust the width of each column for clear view of the divisions.
Next trim the Playlist by deleting the first two rows, and deleting unneeded columns. In the example, we keep only the columns of Index, Title, and Artist.
Adjust the alignments and column widths for a better presentation.
Next select the entire playlist and sort by Column B. That would be the Title.
Save the list in an Excel file format indicating that it is sorted by Title.
Similarly, the playlist can be sorted by Column C, the Artist, and then saved in the Excel file format.
The saved files, sorted by Title and Artist, can next be printed for the paper song books.
Playing songs of differnt languages has not been a problem in karaoke. The song files are mostly in CD+G or MP4 file format, and the karaoke players need only to play the CD+G or MP4 file format regardless of the songs. The foreign lyrics shown on the TV are simply the result of graphic replay from the digital data of the song files.
To handle the foreign song lists and to search the foreign song lists, however, are very different and serious problems. To handle the foreign song lists, the karaoke player requires a system that is broad enough to support the international fonts. To search the foreign song lists, the karaoke player requires an input device such as a keyboard or touch pad that supports the interntaional fonts.
The JB-199 III Premier unit is unique in its support for the international fonts and the international keyboards and touch pads. It enables the display of the foreign song lists as well as the searching of the foreign song lists. Note that with over 1 million songs in some foreign language, it is a necessity, not a luxury, to have the display and search features in foreign languages.
11.1 Adding International Songs
Adding song files of different languages follows the same steps as in Section 8. Making playlists will also follow the same steps as in Section 9. The only difference when handling foreign songs comes when making the Master Library combining playlists of differnt languages. In the example, we show adding the songs of following languages.
English songs in MP4 file format are added into the folder C:\JB199III\English. The Title and Artist information is filled in from the IDTags of the files.

11.2 Making International Master Library
From the playlists English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and French, we make the Master Library following the steps in Section 9.1.1..
Next, close the JB-199 III Premier program and exit out to Windows desktop. Open the Windows Explorer and go to This PC > Documents > JB199III > Playlist. Right click on Master Library and select Open with > Notepad. The following window of Notepad will open.
For each language block in the Master Library, we add a header as follow. There can be multiple blocks of a same language in the list. In that case, we add the same header for each of the blocks.
The list of headers is shown below. For any language that is not found in the list, please contact techsupport@cavsusa.com
Save the changes made in the Master Library.
11.3 Preparing International Keyboards and Touch pads

Download the language pack and also the Handwriting when available.
You may also add or replace the on-screen keyboard depending on its layout or its method of inputting characters. Note that the on-screen keyboard chosen should be most familiar to the customers.
Follow the steps above for each of the languages downloading the language pack and the handwriting. When complete, restart the JB-199 III Premier unit
To accomodate the international songs and customers, it is necessary to use the touch screen monitors or touch screen tablets. For instruction on how to connect the touch screen monitor or E-Songbook, go to Section 6.
Start the JB-199 III Premier unit. Turn on the 3D Customer Interface. Be sure to have loaded the Master Library to My Server.

The customers can now search the songs in their languages using the on-screen keyboard or touch pad.
12. Integrated Control for CAVS DK3 Mixer
When customers begin singing, we often witness a frantic motion from the KJ or the operator running to the stage to adjust the music volume, the microphone volumes, Echo, Reverb, etc. That is, whenever a new song starts or a new customer sings, there is a need to adjust the music or microphone volume, and also the Echo and the Reverb for the right balance.
The JB-199 III Premier unit addresses this issue by providing an integrated control for both the karaoke player and the mixer in a single screen. The new integrated control includes
Music volume, balance
Microphone volume(s)
Echo
Reverb
Master volume
You can now use the integrated control to select and play songs as well as adjust the music volume, microphone volume, echo, and reverb levels wherever you are, without running to the stage. Note that the number of items in the integrated control above can be expanded or reduced by going to Control Panel > Tools > Mixer in the JB-199 III Karaoke program.
The JB-199 III Premier is specially designed to work with the CAVS DK3 mixer. Here we show how to set and operate the JB-199 III Premier with the CAVS DK3 mixer.
