The new format also secure the song files from unwanted copying to laptop or PC.
CAVS IPS-11G comes with the following karaoke functions:

CAVS IPS-11G connects to any standard audio video (AV) system for the outputs and lets you view, search, and play the songs using a remote control. Simply connect, sit back, and enjoy the CAVS IPS-11G.

4. CAVS IPS-11G Karaoke Station and Accessories
4.2 Name of Each Part And Function Description

A-Type USB port is located on the right side of the main body to connect your USB memory device such as a USB flash drive, USB hard drive, MP3 player, MP4 player, etc.

SPDIF connector for digital audio output, S-Video connector for high-resolution video output, A/V connector for RCA 2 Channel audio and composite video output, 9V DC power input terminal, and POWER ON/OFF Switch are located on the back side.

Two mini (3.5mm, 1/8 inch) jack connectors for dual microphone inputs, microphone volume control knob and echo control knob are located in left side.

5. Installation and Connection
5.1 Connecting USB Memory Device
Connect your USB memory device, such as USB flash drive, USB hard drive, or USB MP3 player, to
the CAVS IPS-11G karaoke station.
Note that the USB memory device must be formatted FAT32 for use with CAVS IPS-11G karaoke station.
You can connect the USB memory device while the CAVS IPS-11G is powered on or off.
A message "Media Detected" will appear on the TV screen.
If needed, you can also use an Extension USB cable to connect the USB memory device to the CAVS IPS-11G.

5.2 Removing USB Memory Device
You can remove your USB memory device from CAVS IPS-11G anytime. "NO MEDIA DETECTED¡± message will appears on the TV screen.

5.3 Remote Control Battery Installation
Before using your remote control, insert the battery as described below.
Do not store the remote control in high temperatures or direct sunlight.
The remote control may not function properly in direct sunlight.

AC power adapter supports 100V~240V AC input voltage with DC9V 1000 mA output. To prevent any damage to the system, it is recommended only to use the included AC power adapter.

5.5.1 Connecting to composite output (most commonly used)
Using the yellow connector of AV cable, connect the CAVS IPS-11G AV out terminal with VIDEO IN or COMPOSITE IN terminal of TV. Please refer to the user¡¯s manual of your TV to find the VIDEO IN terminal.

5.5.2 Connecting to S-VIDEO output
If your TV has S-Video input terminal, you can enjoy high quality video using S-Video cable (not included) from the S-Video out terminal of CAVS IPS-11G to the S-Video input terminal of your TV.

5.6.1 Connecting to analog audio output (most commonly used)
Using the white and red connector of AV cable, connect the CAVS IPS-11G AV out terminal to the AUDIO IN terminal of TV or amplifier. Please refer to the user¡¯s manual of your TV or amplifier to find the AUDIO IN terminal.

5.6.2 Connecting to digital audio output (5.1CH)
If your AV receiver has a digital audio input terminal (coaxial), you can enjoy 5.1ch audio when playing back 5.1ch audio files. Using the digital audio cable (not included), connect SPDIF digital audio out terminal of CAVS IPS-11G with digital audio input terminal (coaxial terminal) of your AV receiver. Please refer to the user¡¯s manual of your AV receiver to find the digital audio input terminal.

CAVS IPS-11G has a built-in dual microphone mixer with 3.5mm mini jack connectors for 2 microphones. Connect the microphones (one included) into the mini jack connectors. Turn on the power switch located on the microphone handle.
Adjust the microphone volume and echo level with MIC VOL and ECHO control knobs. Turn the control knobs clockwise to increase, or counter clockwise to decrease, the volume and echo level.

6. Operation of CAVS IPS-11G Karaoke Station
To start CAVS IPS-11G Karaoke Station,
The initial screen of CAVS IPS-11G will appear with a message ¡°NO MEDIA DETECTED¡± on the TV screen.
The POWER key in the remote control only works when the POWER switch in the back side of CAVS IPS-11G is turned on. This state is called standby mode. When not in use, turn off the POWER switch in the back side of the unit.
After CAVS IPS-11G is powered on, if the TV screen keeps rolling vertically and has no color, press PROGRAM key in the remote control of CAVS IPS-11G to change the TV type (MULTI / NTSC / PAL) setting. The PROGRAM key will only work to change the TV type setting in the Main menu when no USB device is connected. To change the TV type setting at any other time, go to Setup menu and follow the instruction given in Section 9. Setup system configuration.
Connect your USB memory device to CAVS IPS-11G. The TV screen will show ¡°MEDIA DETECTED¡± message and display the Main menu in a few seconds. Main menu consists of Photos, Music, Videos, and Files icons.
You can choose any icon by pressing the directional keys followed by the ENT key on the remote control. You can return to Main menu from any part of operation by pressing HOME key anytime. You can disconnect your USB memory device anytime from CAVS IPS-11G.
If the root folder of the USB memory device is downloaded with karaoke song files using the IPS manager program, then the TV screen will skip over the Main menu and start directly with the KARAOKE SEARCH screen. For the instruction on how to use the KARAOKE SEARCH screen, please go to Section 7.3.2. For the instruction on how to download the karaoke song files using the IPS Manager program, go to the User Manual of the IPS Manager program.

Photos mode reads and plays image files saved under a folder named PHOTO in your digital devices. The folder Photos may contain multilevel sub-folder structure. CAVS IPS-11G can play back image files of format JPG(JPEG), BMP, and GIF.
For iPod¢ç, to see the images stored through iTunes¢ç, go to Photos, Full Resolution, and Year-Month-Date folders. Note that only the images stored with ¡°Include full-resolution photos¡± option in iTunes¢ç will be shown.
Remote control keys in Photos mode:
Slide show only works with JPEG files. If there is no JPEG files in the selected photo folder, ¡°NO PHOTO FILE¡± message will appear for the music slide show.

In Music mode, CAVS IPS-11G reads and plays MP3 music files saved under a folder named MUSIC in your USB memory device. The folder MUSIC may contain multilevel sub-folder structure. Select a song file and press ENT to begin playback. The Equalizer screen will appear with the music file information.
For iPod¢ç, to play the MP3 files stored through iTunes¢ç, select iPod-Control, Music, and Songs folders. Note that only the MP3 files stored without the DRM protection will be shown.
File information on the Equalizer screen comes from the ID3 Tag of the MP3 file. If the MP3 file does not have ID3 Tag, the Equalizer screen will not display any file information.

Videos mode reads and plays video files saved under a folder named VIDEO in your USB memory device. The folder VIDEO may contain multilevel sub-folder structure. CAVS IPS-11G can play back video files of format MPEG, MPG, AVI, DAT, VOB. Select a video file and press ENT to begin playback.
For iPod¢ç, the video files stored through iTunes¢ç is encrypted in a proprietary format and cannot be viewed by CAVS IPS-11G. To play by CAVS IPS-11G, the video files must be stored into iPod¢ç as USB memory device, shown in Section 6.5.
Remote control keys in Videos mode:
If a video file does not include an audio file or an audio file of a supported format by CAVS IPS-11G, you will not hear the audio portion of the video file. Please check the file format for proper operation.

Files mode shows all files (supported by CAVS IPS-11G) and folders in your USB memory device. You can browse and play any of the files shown in Files mode, as long as the files are of supported formats.

For MP3 music files, store the files under a folder named MUSIC in your USB memory device to maximize the features of CAVS IPS-11G.
For JPEG, BMP, and GIF photo files, store the files under a folder named PHOTO in your USB memory device to maximize the features of CAVS IPS-11G.
For MPEG, MPG, AVI, DAT, VOB video files, store the files under a folder named VIDEO in your USB memory device to maximize the features of CAVS IPS-11G.
If the folders do not exist, follow the user¡¯s manual of your device to create the folders. The folders may have multilevel sub-folder structure for your convenience of organizing the files.

Next, copy all files of your choice from PC to the new folder.
CAVS IPS-11G utilizes your USB memory device, such as a USB flash drive or MP3 player, as data storage. It has its own multimedia processor and it accesses your device to play the files of photos, music, videos, and karaoke. That is why your device may not be video capable or even audio capable, but when connected to CAVS IPS-11G, it becomes a home theater and karaoke entertainment center. CAVS IPS-11G plays DVD movies and Karaoke sing along with lyric display. The number of movies or karaoke songs that can be stored in your USB memory device will depend on the data capacity of your device.
For iPod¢ç, the MP3 and Photo files may also be stored using iTunes¢ç program. Please refer to Sections 6.1 and 6.2 for the instruction on how to play the MP3 and Photo files stored through iTunes¢ç program.

CAVS IPS-11G can play the karaoke songs of the following file formats:
The -MCG file format is unique for the IPS-11G player. It can be created using the IPS Manager program which can convert the songs of CDG disc, Super CDG disc, JB-199 (I, II), CAVS DVD USB players (105g USB, 203G USB, 305G USB), etc. This means that IPS-11G player can play the songs of all CDG discs, Super CDG discs, JB-199 (I, II), CAVS DVD USB players (105g USB, 203G USB, 305G USB), etc.
The -MCG file format, being unique to the IPS-11G player, can also prevent the unwanted copying of the song files to a laptop or PC. The -MCG file format cannot be played in a laptop or PC, and requires the IPS-11G player to play.

Many sources of karaoke songs are available for CAVS IPS-11G:
When downloading from online, the song file maybe in a zip format. Use the Winzip program (available in Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8) or a free Tugzip program from Internet to unzip file to CDG + MP3 or MP3+G formats.
All karaoke songs above can be converted to -MCG file format of the IPS-11G using the IPS Manager program. For detail instruction on how to covert, please go to the User Manual of IPS Manager program.

7.2 Transferring Karaoke Songs
There are two ways to transfer the karaoke song files into the USB memory devices (such as a USB flash drive or USB hard drive) for playing in the CAVS IPS-11G player.
First, for the karaoke songs that are in CDG + MP3 or MCG + MP3 file formats only, the songs can be transferred directly into an USB memory device without using the IPS Manager program. This task would be a simple Copy & Paste operation of the files from their existing folder to their new folder in the USB memory device.
Second, for all karaoke song files, including those of CDG + MP3 and MCG + MP3 file formats, the songs can be transferred into an USB memory device using the IPS Manager program. By the IPS Manager program, the songs will be converted to the -MCG file format and also indexed by song number, title, and artist names.

There are two different ways of playing the karaoke song files in CAVS IPS-11G player. The first, described in Section 7.3.1, is to play the karaoke song files transferred into the USB memory device without using the IPS Manager program. The second, described in Section 7.3.2, is to play the karaoke songs transferred into the USB memory device using the IPS Manager program.

7.3.1 Using File Library
Karaoke song files, CDG + MP3 or MCG + MP3, are transferred into a USB memory device NOT using the IPS Manager program. The song files are transferred by the Copy & Paste commands into the USB memory device.
Only up to 500 songs can be viewed in the FILE LIBRARY per folder.

7.3.2 Karaoke Search Menu

8.1 Downloading firmware
Download the latest firmware for CAVS IPS-11G from www.cavsusa.com and save it in your PC. Double click on the downloaded file to unzip it into ¡°klinki2.rom¡± file. Connect your USB memory device to PC and copy the ¡°klinki2.rom¡± to the USB memory device.

8.2 Connecting your USB memory device
Connect your USB memory device to CAVS IPS-11G. Power off CAVS IPS-11G and power on.

8.3 Selecting firmware upgrade menu
Press SETUP key on the remote control to go to the Setup menu. Go to PREFERENCES, UPGRADE MODE and select YES. Exit setup by pressing SETUP key. Firmware updating will start automatically.
Do not turn off the power during firmware update. If the power is turned off during update, it will causes critical damage to the system.

8.4 Completing firmware update
When update is completed, CAVS IPS-11G will power off automatically. Turn off the POWER switch on the backside of CAVS IPS-11G (POWER key in the remote control will not work).

8.5 Removing your USB memory device
Remove your USB memory device from CAVS IPS-11G. Connect your memory device to PC and delete the ¡°klinki2.rom¡± firmware that is inside.
If you don¡¯t delete the firmware that is inside your USB memory device, unexpected firmware update may occur in your next connection of the USB memory device to CAVS IPS-11G.

8.6 Checking Firmware update
Press SETUP key to go to the Setup menu. Go to PREFERENCES, VERSION MODE and ON to check the firmware version. Press SETUP key to return to Setup menu. Press again to exit Setup menu.

8.7 Starting CAVS IPS-11G after firmware update
After the firmware update, re-connect your digital device and power on the CAVS IPS-11G.

Press SETUP key to go to the Setup menu. Highlight the menu item you wish using /// keys and press ENT to select.
9.1.1 TRANSITION MODE
Select a transition speed in photo playback.
9.1.2 DIGEST STYLE.
Select the thumbnail matrix style.
9.2.1 REPEAT MODE
Select the repeat mode in music playback. You can also use the REPEAT key in the remote control.
9.3.1 REPEAT MODE
Select the repeat mode in movie playback. You can also use the REPEAT key in the remote control.
9.4.1 SLIDE SHOW MODE
Select from manual/auto transition. For manual transition, use / or 9/: keys to move backward/forward. For auto transition, select the time in INTERVAL TIME below.
9.4.2 FOLDER REPEAT
Select the repeat mode in photo playback. You can also use REPEAT key in the remote control.
9.4.3 INTERVAL TIME
Select the interval time per picture in photo playback. Interval Time becomes effective only when SLIDE SHOW MODE is set at AUTO.
9.4.4 TRANSITION
Select the style of photo transition in photo playback. You can also use the AV SEL key.
9.5.1 TV TYPE
Select the TV type.
9.5.2 TV DISPLAY
Select the aspect ratio of TV display.
9.5.3 SPDIF OUTPUT
Select the type of digital audio output.
9.5.4 LANGUAGE
Select the language type for On Screen Display.
9.5.5 SETUP VALUES
Reset all settings to the default settings.
9.5.6 UPGRADE MODE
Select YES / NO to upgrade firmware for CAVS IPS-11G.
If the firmware upgrade does not start automatically after exiting SETUP, go to FILES icon in the Main menu and press ENT key to start the firmware upgrade.
9.5.7 VERSION MODE
Select ON to display the firmware version information. Press ESC to close.
Select OFF / KARAOKE for the karaoke features.
Select LT/RT or STEREO for the analog audio output.
Select EXIT SETUP to exit Setup menu. Also press SETUP key to exit or press ESC key to return to previous menu.

If this product is found to be defective, CAVS will repair or replace defective parts at no charge to the original owner. Such repair and replacement services shall be rendered by CAVS during normal business hours at CAVS authorized service centers. Parts used for replacement are warranted only for the remainder of the Warranty Period. All products and parts thereof may be brought to a CAVS authorized service center on a carry-in basis.
THE DURATION OF ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, IS LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THE EXPRESSED WARRANTY HEREIN.
