CAVS E-SONGBOOKS WIRELESS KARAOKE SONGBOOKS BACK TO CAVS RS II
Portfolio

INTRODUCTION

CAVS E-Songbook is an electronic touch screen tablet that manages wirelessly the song list of a Karaoke player. It can display the list of more than 300,000 songs and in 40 different languages. This is the Paperless Karaoke where there is no more printing or adding pages! CAVS E-Songbook also can score the singers wirelessly and run karaoke contests. It lets you share the fun of karaoke with everyone, singers and listeners alike!

CAVS E-Songbook is installed with the full version of the CAVS RS II app that has the power to Start, Stop, Pause, Next, or Cancel the songs in Queue. It is unlike the free version which you can download from the App Stores for free but cannot Start, Stop, Pause, Next, or Cancel the songs. This restriction in the free version is to prevent one customer from interfering with another customer's singing. Note that the full version can also be operated as the limited free version by the option setting inside.

CAVS E-Songbooks are available in Android or Windows tablets. If you have your own hardware (including the Apple's iPhone or iPad), you can purchase the software the full version of the CAVS RS II separately. The software is available for iPhone & iPad, Android smartphone & tablet, and Windows tablet. For any question, please contact us at sales@cavsusa.com or 562-777-1845.

E-Songbook can instantly sort and search the songs by index, title, or artist at a touch of your finger. It can also scroll with a scroll bar and move from the top of the song list to bottom in a single stroke.

E-Songbook can reserve, play, stop, pause, next or cancel songs in CAVS Karaoke players such as JB-199, PlayCDG KJ Deluxe 64 LT, CAVS Karaoke Laptop, CAVS Touch Screen Player, and CAVS All-In-One Player. This feature can be enabled or disabled in the E-Songbook by the optional setting.

E-Songbook can run karaoke contest scoring the singers wirelessly. This is a new feature added to increase the participation in a venue, sharing the fun of karaoke with everyone, the singers and listeners alike. The scoring weight of E-Songbooks can be set differently from other wireless devices with the free downloaded Apps. The E-Songbooks can thus be used for the panel of judges with more scoring weight than the customers using their smartphones to send in the scores.

E-Songbook can create and manage unlimited number of Favorite Song Lists for the customers. So it is possible to have a favorite song list or even multiple favorite song lists for each and every customer. The Favorite Song Lists are personalized and convenient service that provides among others the quick-and-easy way to select songs.

E-Songbook can receive and display messages, such as who is next to sing, the last call for drinks, or someone left his car lights on. The messages can be delivered to any one, any group, or all customers. The messages are delivered without disrupting the running tasks.

Up to 256 E-Songbooks can communicate with a single CAVS Karaoke player (or any Windows PC using the CAVS RS II Server program). The communication is based on Wi-Fi Intranet network and it does not require the public Internet that may or may not be available in local bars or restaurants.

E-Songbook is a convenient touch screen tablet with Android OS version 4.2 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher. It runs on an internal battery for 5 hours of continuous use and also has an optional external battery for additional 5 hours of use. It can import the song list wirelessly or using an USB or SD card. It will surely enhance your karaoke enjoyment bringing in the network technology.

If you have your own device (iPhone, iPad, Androids smartphone, Android tablet, Windows tablet), you can install the free or full version of CAVS RS II app. Please go to iPhone and iPad, Android smartphone and tablet or Windows tablet for more details.

Together with the CAVS RS II apps, CAVS RS II Server program runs in the CAVS karaoke player or Windows PC. The CAVS RS II Server program is built-in to the CAVS JB-199 or PlayCDG KJ Deluxe 64 LT family of players and thus requires no purchase. For a Windows PC (without the CAVS karaoke player installed inside), please go to CAVS RS II Server to purchase the server program and download. This server program communicates with the E-Songbooks to transfer the song list, reserve songs, make Favorite Lists, and many more.

How to use E-Songbook without CAVS RS II Server program

E-Songbook can be used as a stand-alone unit without the CAVS RS II Server program (without a network connection to CAVS Karaoke player or Windows PC). In this case, you can view the song list and scroll, sort, and search the songs.

To import the song list, follow the instruction below.

  • Create a song list (.txt file) in the format shown below.
  • Name the song list (.txt file) as cavsbook.txt and copy it onto a micro SD card.
  • Insert the micro SD card into the E-Songbook.

Next go to the Settings of the CAVS RS II App. After inputting the PINCODE to enter, select the Update List from SD. The song list in the micro SD card will begin loading into the E-Songbook.

Warning: Many Android devices do not share the same naming convention for its external micro SD card slot. So after tapping on Update List from SD card, if you see an error message "Fail to open song list. Java.io.FileNotFoundException: xxx/xxx/xxx/cavsbook.txt (no such file or directory)", then you should note that CAVS RS II App is searching for the cavsbook.txt file in the folder "xxx/xxx/xxx/." The folder may or may not exist. If not, please create the folder. Next copy the cavsbook.txt file from the SD card and paste it into the folder "xxx/xxx/xxx/."  Again tap on Update List from SD selection to load the song list into the Android device.

The required format of the song list that can be imported through the SD card is as follows:

  • The first field is the index number followed by the pipe "|" sign.
The pipe "|" sign is inserted by typing Shift-\.
  • The second field is the title followed by another pipe "|" sign.
  • The third field is the artist name followed by Enter for the next line.
  • When saving the song list as a text (txt) file, be sure to select UTF-8 as the Encoding format.

English song list

A song list in various international languages can also be imported in the following format:

Multi-language song list

Each language is denoted by following abbreviations:

Abbreviation Language
# ara Arabic
# chn Chinese
# eng English
# fre French
# ger German
# hin Hindi
# ita Italian
# jpn Japanese
# khm Khmer (Cambodian)
# kor Korean
# por Portuguese
# rus Russian
# spa Spanish
# tai Tai
# vie Vietnamese

Note that there can be more than one cluster of songs of same languages (in the example, there are two clusters of songs of Spanish, Russian, and Korean languages). In such cases, CAVS RS II Server program will automatically combine the clusters into one group per each language.
